Utility Power & Infrastructure Upgrade

To support long-term energy needs and operational reliability, a major transformer replacement was completed in Cedar Rapids, IA. The original transformer had been removed in 2016 as part of energy-saving upgrades, leaving the site in need of a new solution. Alliant Energy provided and installed a new 8MVA transformer to restore and strengthen power delivery capacity. ESCO Electric partnered in the project to ensure seamless integration and backup flexibility for ongoing operations.

Work Performed

Assisted with the integration of a new 8MVA transformer installed by Alliant Energy.

Pulled new medium-voltage (MV) cables to Square D selector switches, enabling reliable backup feed options.

Ensured the system was engineered and installed for resilience, safety, and adaptability to future needs.

Delivered project support in coordination with utility providers to minimize disruptions and maximize efficiency.
